Crabapple and Gingko Trees in our yard - Spring 2010
Charlie and I live with our three growing children in a small, French country house built in 1935.  Early in the morning the sun lights up the red terracotta tile roof which we can see out our bedroom window.  With the Snowdrift Crabapple trees blooming just beyond, it doesn't look like suburbia. This is why we bought this house, almost 20 years ago.  Keeping it simple in a small house where the floors creek when our kids are up in the night seems to fit us, snug and cozy.  We like that. Our children are growing faster than the plants in our garden.   The oldest two each grew about seven inches in seventh grade.  We are still getting used to sharing shoes with them.  Quiet only exists when our kids are all at school and I am down in the basement working or out in the garden digging.  Remaining hours are soundful - full of three trying to get in their piano practice, saxaphone practice, drumset practice and singing in the shower!
